Jinka’s music is sharp.

The self-proclaimed “trash-laden Brat Pop” artist is no stranger to the strange; just weird enough to be cool, without sacrificing accessibility. Her new single “Dagger” is just another great example of that. Melodically it’s a punch to the teeth, and in terms of vibe, its produced as well as some of the world’s biggest pop records. Thematically, it’s rather relatable too – a high-energy take on betrayal of trust. It’s the latest from her long-anticipated debut album No Anything Else, which is out today on Filature Recordings.

“It’s a song about being backstabbed by someone you keep loving, even though you constantly get hurt by this very person.”

“I wrote “Dagger” with Magdalena Bay during a writing trip to LA last November. Like all of my songs, it’s quite personal. The day we wrote it I felt very fragile because I had to process a lot of mixed feelings towards somebody who I felt had betrayed me. We tried to translate these feelings into a song that reflects on trust, misuse of trust and nativity. It’s a song about being backstabbed by someone you keep loving, even though you constantly get hurt by this very person.”
